Russia - The national team starts from 11 players' historic core

Russia's team for FIBA EuroBasket 2017 is starting to take shape with 11 veterans named for a training camp that will get underway on July 23. Many of those players are about to take part in the VTB League Finals with CSKA Moscow or BC Khimki Moscow Region, with that series tipping off on Thursday. The majority also took part in Russia's unbeaten FIBA EuroBasket 2017 qualifying campaign last summer when they won all four games:

Semen Antonov, Evgenii Baburin, Vitaly Fridzon, Sergey Karasev, Dmitry Khvostov, Dmitrii Kulagin, Nikita Kurbanov, Timofey Mozgov, Aleksey Shved, Andrey Vorontsevich e Andrey Zubkov.

A host of other unnamed players will attend at a training camp (June 8-15) and try to catch the eye and earn invites to the main camp. Russia, led by coach Sergei Bazarevich, won twice against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Sweden last year.
