Kyrie Irving will miss the entire 2025-26 NBA season. Dallas awaits him next season

Kyrie Irving will miss the rest of the season as he continues to recover from knee surgery last March, his agent told ESPN's Shams Charania. The Dallas Mavericks star, who underwent surgery last March to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, has not played this season either. The nine-time All-Star is expected to return for the 2026-27 season. “This is about Kyrie being 1,000% when he comes back and giving himself the best chance to chase a championship next season,” his agent Shetellia Riley Irving told Charania. The 33-year-old forward had already missed the final 20 games of last season due to the same injury.

Since joining the team in the 2022-23 season, the Mavericks have a 75-53 record with Irving on the court, while games played without him have been only 42-75. Dallas currently sits fourth in the Southwest Division with a 19-35 record entering the post-All-Star break portion of the season. The franchise has also signaled its intention to rebuild the roster, trading Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards in a nine-player deal earlier this month.
