Patrick Beverley powered PAOK Salonicco to a Game 1 win in the FIBA Europe Cup Finals against Bilbao Basket. In a rematch of last season’s final, played at the PAOK Sports Arena, the Greek side prevailed 79–73 thanks to a dominant performance from the former NBA guard, who scored 24 points (16 in the first half alone). Breein Tyree, a former Dinamo Sassari guard, also played a key role with 21 points. The series will be decided in one week, on Wednesday, April 29, in Bilbao: if the Spanish team wins, the overall point differential will determine the champion.

Beverley made an immediate impact, scoring seven straight points to push PAOK ahead 29–20, while Cleveland Melvin extended the lead into double digits. Bilbao trailed throughout the first half but responded after the break behind Justin Jaworski, who—after a stint in Naples in 2023—brought the visitors back to 60–59 and finished with 23 points. It wasn’t enough for the Spanish side, which struggled from beyond the arc (8/29), as PAOK maintained control until the final buzzer. Darrun Hilliard added 19 points in a losing effort, with the Greeks now protecting a six-point cushion heading into the return leg at Miribilla.
