Maccabi Tel Aviv has already begun planning its roster for next season with the goal of securing its key players. After extending Will Rayman’s contract, the yellow-and-blue front office has opened negotiations with the team’s star, Iffe Lundberg, to offer him a new deal.

The Danish guard, who joined in November 2025 after years of summer pursuits that never materialized, made an immediate impact, significantly improving the team’s performances and becoming a key figure during a perfect December that put Maccabi back in contention for the EuroLeague play-in spots. Despite interest from other clubs ahead of the summer, there is optimism in Tel Aviv about the possibility of keeping the player, who has long been a favorite of head coach Oded Kattash.

For his part, Lundberg has expressed a strong desire to continue his journey in Israel, denying rumors of a departure and emphasizing his bond with the environment. In a recent interview, the player showed deep gratitude toward the club for giving him an opportunity after five months of inactivity: “I love the team and the city… I feel indebted to Maccabi for allowing me to play basketball again.”

This sense of appreciation, combined with the trust of the coaching staff that had pursued him for three years, appears to be the solid foundation on which the two sides are building an agreement for the future. The former Virtus player is averaging 10.9 points per game in this EuroLeague, along with 3.5 assists. In the 14 games he has played, Maccabi has posted a 9–5 record.
