Hapoel Tel Aviv close to a deal with former NBA Kessler Edwards
L’Hapoel Tel Aviv is looking to put its recent struggles behind after returning to winning ways over the weekend, ending a six-game losing streak across domestic competition and the EuroLeague. The Israeli club is now also close to adding reinforcements for head coach Dimitris Itoudis, after team owner Ofer Yannay had previously attempted to sign Nigel Hayes-Davis, who instead chose to accept an offer from Panathinaikos.
According to Sport5, Hapoel is finalizing an agreement with Kessler Edwards, a 25-year-old forward who is averaging 15.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 43% from three-point range in 33 minutes per game with the Grand Rapids Gold. Edwards has also appeared in 178 NBA games with the Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings, and Dallas Mavericks, posting averages of 3.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.6 assists while shooting 36% from beyond the arc in fewer than 13 minutes per game. During the 2024/25 season, he was part of the Dallas Mavericks roster, averaging 4.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 15 minutes per game.
