New details have emerged regarding the arrest of Luca Vildoza and his wife, which took place during the night following an assault on a Red Cross crew member. The Argentine player will be tried this morning in a fast-track proceeding (“processo per direttissima”). According to Decree-Law No. 137 of October 1, 2024, concerning “urgent measures to counter acts of violence against healthcare, social-health, auxiliary and care professionals in the exercise of their functions, as well as damage to property intended for healthcare services,” the fast-track procedure applies in cases of arrest in flagranza di reato, including “on the basis of video or photographic documentation, or other lawfully obtained material from electronic or telematic communication devices, which clearly shows the act and its perpetrator, provided that the arrest takes place no later than the time required for identification and, in any case, within forty-eight hours of the act.”

La Repubblica confirms, based on information provided by the Police Headquarters, how the events unfolded.
“The ambulance crew, who had stopped to assist a person, were approached by Vildoza’s car. He shouted at the healthcare workers, also preventing the ambulance from moving forward. A healthcare operator got out of the vehicle to ask the driver and his wife for an explanation, but she was attacked by the woman, who first grabbed her by the hair and then by the neck. Shortly after, Vildoza himself grabbed her by the arm and then lifted her by the neck.”
The hearing is reportedly scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The charge is assault causing bodily harm to healthcare personnel. The assaulted Red Cross operator has been given a five-day medical prognosis, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
