Danilo Gallinari, speaking on the podcast “A Cresta Alta,” shared his thoughts on his role with the Italian national team (Italbasket) and his feelings ahead of the upcoming EuroBasket tournament. "The group is ready. After so many training sessions — which I didn’t take part in from the start because I joined the team later — now there’s that usual pre-competition excitement. Let’s hope we can turn that into strong performances on the court."

Gallinari praised the makeup of the national squad, emphasizing its key strengths:
"It’s a solid group that can rely on physicality and intensity — two things we need to bring for all 40 minutes. If we can do that, we can compete with anyone. We also have talent; there are talented guys here. I’m fired up."

When asked about the favorites, he didn’t shy away from naming names:
"On paper, Greece and Spain are the strongest. But in the end, games need to be played — and won. There are no more ‘easy’ teams. Every team is tough, even Cyprus, who’s playing at home — those are the kinds of games you must win. You can’t underestimate anyone. That’s the biggest mistake. But yes, I’d say Greece and Spain are the top teams."

Regarding his personal role in the squad, Gallinari was clear and team-focused:
"How many minutes do I expect? We’re ready to help the team in whatever role. I’ve talked a bit with Poz (head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco) about my role. I’m ready to help the team, whether that’s on the court or off it — anything that’s needed to help the group win games. From practice to whatever it takes."
