The future of Nikola Mirotic is once again a topic of discussion, and in La Repubblica - Milan edition, Massimo Pisa reveals an interesting behind-the-scenes detail. The ownership reportedly intervened directly to try and secure the Montenegrin player, who was summoned for a dinner with the management by Giorgio Armani, also attended by President Dell'Orco. The article states: "... Olimpia's ownership personally reiterated what Ettore Messina had already told Mirotic, namely that they consider him an essential part of their immediate future and are willing to extend his contract for appropriate figures. The three-way meeting concluded with a handshake which, although considered valuable by the Assago side, is not a written contract."

Mirotic finished the EuroLeague season with averages of 17.7 points and 6.4 rebounds (fifth overall in both categories), shooting 55% from two-point range and 39% from three-point range, ranking third in overall performance index rating. At 34 years old, he can opt out of his contract with Milan this summer, which he will do anyway - even in case of renewal - to sign a new and final multi-year deal of his career. Competition is not lacking, especially from AS Monaco Basket, which would offer more money than Milan. "A proposal not only richer than the Milanese one but with title ambitions no less than those of Armani and adequate comfort for the Mirotic family, who quite appreciated life along the Navigli canals. A not simple decision, therefore. And one that will heavily depend on the market decisions of this summer." In the event of Mirotic's departure, the possibility of bringing the great dream in the point guard position to Milan, which goes by the name of TJ Shorts, could become much more concrete.
