From Trieste to Los Angeles: Kelley Signs a Contract with the Lakers

The Lakers have signed center Kylor Kelley, according to a press release from the team. The terms were not disclosed, but according to NBA insider Marc Stein, it’s a training camp deal. The Lakers now have a full 21-man roster for training camp.
Kelley appeared in 11 NBA games (two as a starter) last season with the Pelicans and Mavericks, averaging 3.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game. In his first NBA start with the Mavericks on February 2 in Cleveland, Kelley recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Kelley was also part of the Lakers organization last season, although he didn’t appear in an NBA game for them. He signed an Exhibit 10 contract before training camp with Los Angeles and was waived before opening night. He then joined their G League affiliate.
With the South Bay Lakers last season, the 27-year-old played in 32 games (27 as a starter), averaging 11.5 points on 68.2% shooting, 7.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.4 blocks in 26.7 minutes per game. He finished the season with Pallacanestro Trieste in Italy.
