Virtus Bologna, GM Paolo Ronci: "We Are Ambitious"

Paolo Ronci, General Manager of Virtus Bologna, spoke yesterday to Sky Sports ahead of the game against Tortona. “We’ve closed a cycle — players like Belinelli, Shengelia, and Cordinier are no longer with us. Luckily, we ended that cycle by winning the championship. We’ve now built a younger team, with a lower average age and some players making their EuroLeague debut. It’s a team that reflects the image and identity of our head coach", he said. "We know there’s a lot of work ahead — it’ll be a long season with many games. But we’re ambitious and self-aware. When you play in Bologna, wearing the Virtus jersey, every game is played to win."
On the Preseason and the Upcoming Supercoppa
The preseason was held without several national team players, and the Supercoppa is just around the corner.
"Four of the twelve players on the Italian national team were ours — we were proud of that. Now, we’ll need some patience; there’s a difference in conditioning between those who started early and those who joined later.
As for the Supercoppa, we immediately have a classic matchup with Olimpia Milano. Hopefully, the Forum will be full — people love the rivalry between us and Milano. The teams won’t be at 100%, but we’ll go out there to represent ourselves in the best possible way."
On the EuroLeague Opener Against Real Madrid
"Our EuroLeague debut will be against Real Madrid, coached by our former head coach Sergio Scariolo. The PalaDozza will be sold out.
It will be a great way to start — we’re all excited for the new EuroLeague season to begin."
