The Paolo Galbiati era has officially begun at Baskonia. Just a few days before starting work with his new team, the Italian coach spoke to the club’s media.
"I’m very excited and enthusiastic to sit on such a prestigious bench. It’s a dream," said Galbiati, who recalled how his passion for basketball began:
"I started playing at the age of eleven, when at home my brother and father used to watch games on TV. At that time, the EuroLeague was already very important in Vitoria, and I used to dream of all this."

The new Baskonia head coach is clear about what his main challenge will be:
"My biggest challenge is to give everything on the court and make all Baskonia fans happy. With humility, competing in two beautiful leagues like the EuroLeague and Liga Endesa, full of both team and individual goals. The objective is to win games, reach the playoffs and, why not, win a trophy."

Galbiati also emphasized the importance of daily work and commitment to the values that have always defined the club:
"For me, the most important thing is to improve every day, to dream but with my feet on the ground, and to be the best version of myself. What I sincerely ask for is passion and respect. That is non-negotiable."

The Italian coach also shared kind words for the city and the fans after experiencing the Vitoria festivals up close this summer:
"It was incredible to see so many people together having fun. The atmosphere, the lights, the energy… it was a shock for me. I can’t wait to experience it again with the Buesa Arena full, pushing us forward."
