Francesco Tabellini officially named new head coach of Paris Basketball

The news had been circulating for weeks, but now it’s official: Francesco Tabellini is the new head coach of Paris Basketball. Another Italian coach takes charge of a EuroLeague club. Tabellini replaces Tiago Splitter following a memorable debut season in Europe’s top competition for the French club, which now faces major changes.
It’s not just the coaching position being overhauled—Paris Basketball’s roster is also undergoing a major transformation, with Shorts heading to Panathinaikos, Tyson Ward to Olympiacos, Mikael Jantunen to Fenerbahce, and Kevarrius Hayes joining Monaco Basket.

This is a huge opportunity for Tabellini, who was identified as the ideal replacement for Splitter, particularly due to his coaching style and modern, fast-paced approach to the game. In 2022, he left Italy—where he was an assistant coach at Treviso—to take over as head coach of USK Praha. A year later, he joined Nymburk, where he has spent the last two seasons.
With Nymburk, he coached 138 games, winning an impressive 116. He led the Czech club to the quarterfinals of the Basketball Champions League, having qualified for the 2024–25 FIBA competition through the September qualifying rounds.
