Shengelia says goodbye to Virtus Bologna: "Some chapters in life stay with you forever, and this is one of them"

Toko Shengelia has officially bid farewell to Virtus Bologna, doing so with a spine-tingling farewell video. Four seasons come to a close, capped off by winning the Italian championship (Scudetto). Along the way, he also lifted the EuroCup—bringing Virtus back to the EuroLeague in the 2021–22 season—and won two Italian Supercups in 2022 and 2023. Now, his future lies with FC Barcelona.
“Dear Virtus fans and dear Bologna,
Some chapters in life stay with you forever, and this is one of them.
When I first arrived in Bologna, I didn’t know what to expect. But what I found was much more than just basketball. I found a city that embraced me, a club that believed in me, and some truly special fans I will never forget.
This city, this club, these fans—they became part of who I am.
We’ve been through a lot together: highs, lows, victories, defeats. And so many moments in between that made everything truly special.
Throughout it all, I gave you everything I had—my heart, my soul, every ounce of energy I could give.
There wasn’t a single moment where I didn’t play with passion, pride, and the sense of responsibility that wearing this jersey demands.
Thank you, Virtus Bologna. What we shared will stay with me forever.
This is not goodbye, just a see you later.
With love.”
