Baskonia's president Querejeta: "EuroLeague stronger than ever. Let’s move forward without fear"

Josean Querejeta, president of Baskonia, spoke out following EuroLeague’s decision to expand to 20 teams with the inclusion of EuroCup champion Hapoel Tel Aviv, as well as Dubai Basketball and Valencia. The Spanish club president stated that "the EuroLeague is stronger than ever," adding that this evolution responds "to the need to open up to emerging projects and new markets" that support the league’s global growth. "It’s an important decision that adds value to the competition," he emphasized. He also added:
"Above all, I want to highlight Baskonia’s ability to be present during the most important moments and decisions that the EuroLeague has faced over the last 25 years," said Josean Querejeta, who didn’t hesitate to point out that "the competition has evolved, changed its format, and gained value not only in sporting terms but also economically. We must keep building our path without forgetting the value of what we’ve achieved in these 25 years. We are confident in the unity among the teams and that we will continue to grow."
Regarding the potential NBA project in Europe, he responded: "Anyone who wants to organize other types of competitions has every right to do so, but if we keep taking the steps we’re taking, we have nothing and no one to fear." He also reaffirmed that Baskonia will remain "in the best competition in Europe for at least another 10 years, and we should be proud that, in every major decision, Baskonia has always been at the table."
