Ovviamente, Donovan Mitchell, il secondo candidato dell'anno scorso per il Rookie of the Year, non è affatto d'accordo con Simmons e pensa che sia Trae Young quello più meritevole del titolo. Per gran parte della stagione, Doncic è stato il favorito per vincere il Rookie of the Year. Ma il continuo miglioramento di Young ha reso per lo meno la scelta un dibattito interessante.
