BIO: in the collective imagination Iceland generates great sympathy; and even if it is the smallest country of the competition, it is at the second consecutive participation at EuroBasket. The team, in addition to few veterans as Jon Stefansson, proposes new young talents as the guys who play in NCAA – Acox, Gudmundsson and Palsson – and the group which has well appeared in the recent EuroBasket under 20 led by the big-man Hlinason; with no doubt, the cohesion and the teamwork will be the extra man for a team deprived of his best player. The purpose is – after the great matches against Germany, Italy e Turkey two years ago – to get the first win in the final phase of the tournament.

QUALIFIED: got the second place in his group in the qualifying round of the last summer; decisive the two latest home-win in Reykjavik against Cyprus and Belgium

EYES ON: Martin Hermannsson; the point-guard born in 1994 is ready to inherit the leadership role after having dragged his team to the final phase scoring 15 points per game. Coming out of the university of LIU Brooklyn, he has spent his first season as a pro player in the second French league where he has well played (17 points e 6 assist per game), and he has been called by the Chalons Reims in Pro A for the next year

CALENDAR: in Helsinki: 31/08 vs Greece – 02/09 vs Poland – 03/09 vs France – 05/09 vs Slovenia – 06/09 vs Finland
